Waewae Pounamu

The Māori-owned gallery and studio wholly operated by Ngāti Waewae, custodians (kaitiaki) of pounamu (greenstone) in Te Tai Poutini, the West Coast of New Zealand.

Open daily from 9 am to 4 pm, Waewae offers visitors a chance to explore 100 % authentic, ethically sourced jade carvings—pendants, sculptures, and art pieces—that carry both cultural significance and artistic integrity.

Every jade piece includes a traceability code linking buyers to its boulder, its carver, and the meaning of its carved form—ensuring not just authenticity but connection. Whether you’re seeking a treasured keepsake, a gift, or simply want to immerse yourself in Māori artistry, Waewae Pounamu offers a deep, memorable experience grounded in culture, craftsmanship, and the land.
