Otira Stagecoach Hotel

Known as the first, or the last hotel in Westland, the history and location of the Otira Stagecoach Hotel is second to none.

Offering a unique blend of historical ambience and rustic charm. It is known for its quirky collection of antiques, restored furniture, and evocative décor that harks back to its stagecoach days. It has eight individually furnished rooms, a licensed bar, a café, and serves as both accommodation and a kind of living museum.

Enjoy food, games and a tale as old as time – as the Hotel was originally built around 1865, it served the burgeoning traffic of miners, travellers and stagecoaches moving between the West Coast and Canterbury before the opening of the Otira Tunnel.
