West Coast Treetop Walkway & Zipline

The Treetop Walkway & Zipline activities are fully accessible and designed for everyone—families, couples and solo adventurers alike.

Tunnel Terrace Loop Walk

Tunnel Terrace Loop Walk enters and exits through old goldmining tailrace tunnels. Passing through regenerating Rimu, Kamahi and tree fern forests.

Mt Tuhua Track

This track to the open tussock peak of Mt Tuhua (1,125 m) is steep and is suitable for fit trampers only. The track is marked with orange triangles for its entire length. Check weather and track conditions before setting out.

Mt Brown Track

Mount Brown Hut Track is near Lake Kaniere in the Hokitika region. It’s a beautiful day walk or a short overnight tramp with an epic sunrise and sunset. Experience absolutely stunning views from the top over Lake Kaniere, the Tasman sea, Hokitika river, and back towards the Southern Alps.

Mananui Tramline

Follow an old logging tramway route through a cross section of West Coast bush. Following Wetland’s, with a detour to the lake, This is also suitable for bikes as part of the West Coast Wilderness Trail

Mananui Bush and Beach Walk

9km South of Hokitika, off SH6 – on the right heading South. Wander through the sand dunes and totara forest, popping out to the wild beach. From the beach you will see a stunning view of the Southern Alps.

Lake Kaniere Walkway

Starting from either Sunny Bight Carpark, or the Southern end of the Lake near Mt Brown, follow the Western shores of the stunning Lake Kaniere.

Kaniere Water Race Walkway

This walk follows the historic (but still used) Kaniere Forks power station water-race, through our native rainforest. This section is also part of our West Coast Wilderness Trail.

Kahikatea Forest Walk

A short walk, located out at Lake Kaniere, follows boardwalks and native forest, around a small loop. Fantastic for the whole family.

Hokitika Gorge

This loop track shows the stunning blue waters of the Hokitika Gorge and the pristine mature podocarp forest of the Hokitika Scenic Reserve.

Hokitika Beach Walk

Easy access from the town, wander along our wild beaches, filled with dark sand, piles of driftwood, and epic shaped rocks.

Goldsborough Track

Starting at the Goldborough camping area, historic goldmining, including fine tunnels. Elevated sections showcase hill country rimu and miro forests.

Glow Worm Dell Hokitika

Glow Worm Dell is a free night-time activity and is suitable for the whole family! Enjoy watching them light up the dark canopy cover above you! It MUST be DARK in order to see the Glow worms as they are not in a cave system.
